Mabeybridge Thinksafe campaign shortlisted for second Health and Safety award
The UK’s largest indigenous supplier of wind turbine towers has been shortlisted for the Renewable UK Health & Safety 2014 award for its ThinkSafe campaign. The campaign, which has been running since 2012, has led to an improvement in the Accident Frequency Rate (AFR) at its manufacturing facility to 0.13.
ThinkSafe is Mabey Bridge’s employee led health and safety culture change program designed to challenge the way employees think about health and safety and to encourage positive conversations. Overseen by a steering committee made up of front line employees, the long term strategy has been communicated directly to all Mabey Bridge’s staff at over 20 separate events delivered by Steve Krause.
Mark Coia, Managing Director of Mabey Bridge Energy & Marine commented: “Ensuring the health and safety of Mabey Bridge staff has always been of paramount importance to our company’s success. Our ThinkSafe campaign was about embedding an industry leading health and safety culture at the heart of our business and we are delighted this has been recognised by RenewableUK”.
“Steve has been instrumental in helping Mabey Bridge develop its award winning belief based safety culture programme called ThinkSafe. The high energy training sessions and strategic guidance that Steve brought to the programme was amazing and has now helped the Company secure a robust and interdependent safety culture. During the times when we were struggling to define a clear strategy that best suited our business, Steve provided the guiding light that illuminated our road map to success.
If you are serious about changing your health and safety culture – where you really want to see an immediate reduction in incidents – use Steve. When a business tries a new approach to improving health and safety performance you have to be sure that the outcomes will be positive and I can’t thank Steve enough for assisting us in getting where we are today.”
